SPACE PUSSY:
original alternative rock
HOMETOWN:
Provincetown, MA
Space Pussy dominated Cape Cod in the mid-1990's. Play writer/Drag Queen/ Actor Ryan Landry fronted a band, the likes of which, straight bars & clubs on Cape Cod had never seen before. Ace guitarist, Eric Short of Hyannis added the hard edge to the sound Bassist Sue Goldberg of Provincetown and transsexual Drummer Rikki Bates (better known as the drummer for The Incredible Casuals) of Eastham provided rhythm and
Keyboardist Marc Meehan of Provincetown rounded-out the line-up of what would become an incredible musical "freak show" that everyone had to go see and hear.
What started-out as "Drag Queen Karaoke" in Provincetown, spread out across the more conservative Mid-Cape area with straight people flocking-out to see Space Pussy and its drag queen guest-singers. Mid-Cape club owners paid-out over $800 a night on any night of the week to have Space Pussy play their venues.
Space Pussy ended as a regularly performing act in 1997, but there are re-unions every Summer in Provincetown and even the occasional show, elsewhere.
